How to use the middle school GPA calculator

Most middle schools still report on a 4.0-style scale even when classes are not weighted. Each course counts as one credit by default—enter every class grade and let the tool average quality points the way many districts do for report cards.

  • Unweighted mode is usually what parents and counselors discuss for grades 6–8.
  • Weighted preview can help if your district already bumps advanced or high-track classes; confirm with your handbook before relying on it.

Step-by-step tutorial

  1. List each class for the term (math, ELA, science, etc.) and pick the letter grade from the dropdown.
  2. Add another semester block when you want to separate fall and spring or each school year.
  3. Use the cumulative line to see how strong quarters stack before high school registration.
  4. Save stays local in your browser—nothing is uploaded to our servers.

Tips and tricks

  • Some middle schools use standards-based report cards; convert to a letter or percent only when your school publishes an equivalency chart.
  • When you start high school, switch to the high school calculator if honors or AP weighting applies.
  • Pair this with the grade calculator when a single class has many homework and test buckets.
