Class grades

Enter assessments with weights (percent of the class). We compute a weighted average even if weights do not sum to 100.

How to use the grade calculator

Model each class as a list of assessments (exams, labs, homework) with the percentage of the total grade each section represents. The calculator multiplies every score by its weight and sums the results to show your current class average.

  • Weights should add up to 100% when you intend to represent the whole syllabus.
  • You can track multiple classes at once—each block keeps its own running average.

Step-by-step tutorial

  1. Open a class tab and rename it to match your course schedule.
  2. Add each graded item with the score you earned (or a projected score) and the weight printed on the syllabus.
  3. Adjust rows as new grades post; the running percent updates instantly.
  4. Clone the pattern for additional classes when you are juggling a full course load.

Tips and tricks

  • Enter weights as whole numbers (e.g., 20 for 20%) to match most syllabus tables.
  • If a category is dropped, set its weight to zero or remove the row entirely so the remaining weights reflect the new policy.
  • Read How to calculate grades for a deeper explanation of weighted averages.
